PharmaMar supports the responsible protection, conservation and sustained used of valuable marine resources, in compliance with the Rio de Janeiro Convention on Biodiversity.
 
Respect for ecosystems
 
- Our approach to pharmaceutical discovery contributes to the development of possible new treatments from only a few grams of marine sample.
 
- PharmaMar has a firm commitment to research into innovative therapies as a form of progress for society and creation of value for our shareholders.
 
- We conduct research in order to provide solutions that improve the quality of life of cancer patients and their families.
 
- We invest increasingly more resources in research, based on the use of the most cutting edge technological tools with the objective of developing innovative therapies for diseases that are a scourge on society and for which there is still no effective remedy, such as cancer.
 
Knowledge transfer
 
- We support the training of young scientists through agreements with Spanish and foreign universities, and trust in the value of the collaborations and the transfer of technical knowledge as a means to promote science and research and work for the future of society.
 
- We have work experience placement and scholarship agreements (25 scholarships a year) with different Spanish and international universities.
 
- PharmaMar contributes to enhanced knowledge of local marine ecosystems and their conservation. The information resulting from the different expeditions, which is shared with the local communities and teaching institutions, is centralised in PharmaMar's R&D database in order to optimise future exploration.
 
- We share detailed reports of the marine ecosystems of the seas where we carry out our research and sampling of organisms with the countries surrounded by the seas we have investigated, therefore providing them with a new understanding/concept of the ecosystems of their sea.
  • In some cases, it is the first report carried out on certain parts of the sea.

- Our employees are our most important asset and we endeavour to create a safe and comfortable working environment and conditions which motivate them and foster loyalty.

It also promotes integration into the workplace of disabled people.
 
- We are at the cutting edge as regards the role of women in the organisation; 58% of PharmaMar's workforce are women, of whom 60% work in research (data from August 2007). One third of management posts (directors and managers) are filled by women.
