Chairman of the Board
José María Fernández-Sousa is Full University Professor in Biochemistry in the University Complutense of Madrid and University of Santiago de Compostela and has a Degree in Company Management from IESE. He has more than 90 publications and patents in biochemistry, antibiotics and molecular biology. He has 25 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry in companies such as ICI-Farma, Antibióticos, Zeltia and PharmaMar. He was member of the Board of Directors in Antibioticos Co., Penibérica, Biolys, ICI-Farma, Pescanova, Transfesa, Cooper–Zeltia, ICI-Zeltia and Banco Guipuzcoano. He founded PharmaMar in 1986 and is currently Chairman of Zeltia and PharmaMar.

Managing Director
Luis Mora graduated in Business Administration at the University of Barcelona He brings more than 15 years of experience in Finance of the Pharmaceutical Industry. Prior to joining PharmaMar in January 2000, he worked as a Financial Controller for Zambon, S.A. and Pharmazam, S.A. in Barcelona , Financial Manager for Zambón Portugal and Financial Controller in Antibiotics Group (Montedison) in Milán (Italy). He joined PharmaMar as CFO in 2000, and in January 2007 he was promoted to Subdirector General and CFO. In April 2007 he has been appointed Managing Director.

VP, Strategic Development and Medical Affairs
Pedro Santabárbara obtained his MD in 1974 from the University of Barcelona. He specialized in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, and completed his doctoral thesis cum laude in 1984 centered in lung cancer. He has over 17 years of industry experience (13 years in R&D) exclusively focused in Oncology in large pharma (Bristol Myers/BMS; Rhône Poulenc Rorer) and “biotech” (ILEX Oncology; Gilead Sciences; OSI Pharmaceuticals) companies in both Europe and the United States (12 y) . He directed teams successfully filing 3 NDAs and 1 sNDA resulting in the approvals of Taxotere, Campath and Tarceva, and was a team member in 3 additional NDAs, resulting in the approvals of Taxol and etoposide phosphate. In addition, he directed and/or contributed to 10 INDs. He is a member of ASCO, ESMO and IASLC. He joined PharmaMar as Senior Director, Clinical Development in July 2005. In April 2007 he has been appointed Vice President Strategic Development and Medical Affairs.

VP, Scientific Development
José Jimeno graduated as MD Cum Laude at the University of Zaragoza, holds a PhD in Molecular Pharmacology (Cum Laude) from the University of Barcelona. He began his career in Italy where he worked for the National Cancer Institute of Bari NCI (Italia), Farmitalia Carlo Erba (Milan) y U.S. Bioscience (Watford, UK). He holds the European Certificate in Medical Oncology and has more than 100 publications in the Cancer Research area. He is an active member of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He joined PharmaMar in 1994 as Director of Clinical R&D and created the Clinical Research area. Since 2002, he holds his current position in the area of Scientific Development.

Virginia Cuervo, MSc, graduated in Biology at the University of Basel (Switzerland). She has a strong 18 years track record in the Pharmaceutical Industry. She gained broad experience in Regulatory Affairs at Hoffmann-La Roche AG, Basel, further specialized in Oncology at Novartis Pharma AG, Basel. She joined PharmaMar in November 2000 in her current position.

Director, Research and Development
Carmen Cuevas gained her PhD in Organic Chemistry and graduated in Chemistry at the University of Pais Vasco (Spain). She joined PharmaMar in 1997 after completion of her post-doctoral studies in the Pharmacology Department at the University of Alcalá de Henares. She has hold management positions in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department of PharmaMar until 2003, when promoted to her current position. During her professional experience she has compiled 43 international scientific publications and 9 patents.

Director, Clinical Development
Alejandro Yovine obtained his MD with Honors from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 1991. He specialized in Internal Medicine in Argentina followed by Clinical Oncology in France. He obtained a European degree in Clinical Research in Oncology from the Institute Gustave Roussy (France) in 2002, devoting his work to the research in sarcoma, ovarian and breast cancers. Before joining Pharmamar, he was Associate Director of Clinical Research in Oncology at Cvitkovic Associées Consultants in Paris where he led the clinical development of different anticancer drugs, namely oxaliplatin, irofulven and trabectedin (Yondelis®). He also contributed to the development of Yondelis® as clinical investigator in Phase II, during his early clinical oncology period in Paris. He joined PharmaMar as Clinical Oncology Manager in January 2007. In August 2007 he has been appointed Head of Clinical Development. He is an active member of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

Director, Marketing and Sales
Alfonso Casal, graduated in Pharmacy at the University Complutense of Madrid. He has more than 20 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Prior to joining PharmaMar he worked for Laboratorios Sarget S.A., ASTA Medica AG and Baxter Oncology GMBH. He joined PharmaMar in 2003 as Director of Business Development. Since 2006, he holds his current position in the Marketing department.

Fernando Mugarza graduated as MD Cum Laude at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He specialized in both Family and Community Medicine and in Pharmaceutical Industry Medicine from the UC Madrid. Dr. Murgarza holds various post graduated degrees: Expert on Clinical Units Management and Masters Degree in Medical Management at the UNED and the Carlos III Health Institute; Health Information Specialists at UC Madrid, Masters Degree in Scientific Journalism at the UCM, the Royal Academy of Physical and Natural Sciences and the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona; Masters Degree in Pharmaceutical Marketing at the International Learning Bureau; MBA and Expert on Corporate Social Responsibility at UNED. He has developed a multidisciplinary career: as Family Doctor in the National Health System; holding several commercial and managerial positions in different areas of Marketing, Communication and Institutional Relations the Pharmaceutical Industry (SAFA, ISDIN Laboratories (Group Esteve), Beecham, SmithKline Beecham-SB, SB Foundation, Novartis Group, Fundación Salud Innovación y Sociedad. He has also worked at the private hospital sector as Director of Marketing and Communications of Group Hospital de Madrid (HM Hospitales) before joining PharmaMar in April 2008.

Pedro Berbil, holds an honours degree in chemistry from the UC Madrid and Executive MBA from the Instituto de Empresa, Madrid. He has 18 years experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry in companies such as Bristol Myers and SmithKline Beecham where he held management positions within the operations area. He joined PharmaMar in 2001 as a Production, Industrial Development and Logistics Manager. He was promoted to his current position in 2004.

Carmen Frigola gained her PhD in Pharmacy from the University of Navarra (Spain). She graduated in Chemistry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and in Pharmacy at the University of Barcelona. Additionally, she has a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical R&D from the Universidad de Navarra. Prior to joining PharmaMar she worked for Esteve-Química (Esteve Group) at the Intellectual Property Department. She joined PharmaMar in 2003 as Intellectual Property Manager. She has been promoted to her current position in 2006.

Luis Rupérez graduated in Psychology at the UC Madrid. He specialized in Marketing, Business and Human Resources Management. He has 15 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry as Human Resources Director for several companies such as Laboratoires Servier (Paris, France) and Antibióticos Farma. He has also worked in the HR area for Ibermática o Sofemasa (Sema Group). He joined PharmaMar in July 2003 in his current position.

José Luis Ortega, MSc, graduated in Chemistry at the UC Madrid. He brings 19 years of experience in the Quality field and 13 years of experience in management positions in the pharmaceutical industry. He has worked for companies such as Bristol-Myers, S.A.E; DSM Deretil & Justesa Imagen S.A. He has also worked for ENAC (National Accreditation Entity) and as a Quality Consultant. He joined PharmaMar in 2004 in his current position.

Director, Finance & Administration
Elena Calleja Crespo, graduated in Economics –specialized in Monetary Economics and Public Sector- at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She gained a Master in Business Tax Law by ICADE. She began her career at Price Waterhouse in Madrid in the Audit division and later joined the Tax, Legal and Financial division where she remained until 1994 when she was appointed Senior Consultant at C & G. In the new company, she conducted fiscal and financial consultancy projects for various logistic, transportation and technological research companies, from both public and private sectors. In 1998 she joined the Tax, Legal and Financial Division of PricewaterhouseCoopers Madrid as an Associate. She was in charge of the consultancy services for several global customers of the financial sector. He joined PharmaMar in 2002 as a Financial Controller. In April 2008 she was promoted to her current position.
